This magnificent mountain range spreads itself across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Oman, dominating the surrounding skyline. This incredible landscape is a must-do for any visitor to Abu Dhabi, and there are a number of ways to explore it. Its summit, standing at 1,250m high, can be reached in a variety of ways, from car to foot or bike.
A highway was constructed to its peak in 1986, with plenty of parking areas on the way up, ensuring you’ll have many photo opportunities. Viewing platforms at the summit provide beautiful views down to Al Ain. There’s also a café and a beautiful hotel, the Mercure Grand Jebel Hafeet Hotel.
It tends to get cooler at the top, so dress appropriately – a jacket and comfortable footwear is vital! During the summer, it’s best to venture to the summit in the evening, whereas in the winter months, the afternoon is the ideal time.
Visiting the summit at night-time is an incredible experience, with lights switched on along the mountainous roads and the glimmering views of Al Ain.
