Al Ain Palace Museum, or alternatively Sheikh Zayed Palace Museum, was the palace of the UAE’s former president, the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The palace, built in 1937, has now been converted into a museum. Striving to maintain the look and feel of the past, and paying homage to its previous inhabitants, the museum is full of information and artefacts about the Sheikh’s family and its history.
Different quarters are on display, ranging from a variety of courtyards to children’s housing and meeting rooms. The incredible amount on display transports you to a different time, making you leave the 21st century behind at the gates.
It’s possible to tour both the palace and the gardens, on your own or as part of the guide. As the palace is such a colossal building, going alone can be hard. With a guide, you’ll be shown around without getting lost – and with reams of stories and anecdotes.
