Abu Dhabi has leapt onto the world stage when it comes to hosting international and national motorsport events. From testing endurance races to fast and furious rally driving, there’s a huge variety of events to choose from.
The Yas Marina Circuit, with its state-of-the-art facilities, is home to many other events as well as the Grand Prix. The beginning of December sees the Gulf 12 occur, a gruelling 12-hour endurance race. This momentous event draws fans from all over the world, with heavyweights from the motoring world competing for the winning title.
The same weekend also sees the Yas Marina Circuit host the Audi R8 LMS Cup, the Maserati Trofeo MC International and the Toyota TRD 86 Cup.
Al Forsan’s four different tracks host a variety of off-road races as well as drifting, setting audiences up for events that combine skills, speed and a lot of bravery.
For MotoGP fans, neighbouring emirate Qatar is provisionally hosting the event in March 2015, and the much-loved aerial action of the Red Bull Air Race is due to take off in Abu Dhabi, during February 2015.
The Abu Dhabi Solar Challenge brings together science, business and racing, in a blistering competition through desert terrain. Solar-powered cars from around the world battle it out under incredibly tough conditions over four days in January to take the winning title.
